TPW are proud to announce the forming of an educational partnership with Blackburn College. The contract means that students and graduates will be passing through the studio on work placements. We have been offering placements to students for several years, but this new agreement means we will be handling far more students on a more regular timeframe.
We have been offering this service in an attempt to solve a recurring problem students can find when leaving education and looking for employment. Although able to design, problem solve and understand branding, graduates often find that they are unprepared for the ‘real world’ aspects of design beyond education. Preparing jobs for print and production, working to tight deadlines and understanding the balance between design, the clients requirements and budget constraints are just a few of the potential pitfalls waiting for the inexperienced designer to deal with, issues which they will face and learn from during a work placement.
Graduates also find that potential employers will usually insist on real world experience, regardless of an applicant’s skills and portfolio – they need to know that a new employee will be able to handle the realities of work, and we are proud to now be able to prepare people for work on a much greater scale.
