Well, the results have finally been revealed, and TPW have beaten off stiff competition to win the award for Best Creative Agency in the inaugural Hive Business Awards. The presentation ceremony took place at Blackburn Cathedral, where MD Mark Murray collected the award along with design colleagues Sam Norris and Stephen Crook.
The judges were impressed by our creative work, but they were particularly inspired by our help for the local creative community. For some time now TPW has been providing work placements to local young students, giving them valuable real world experience to complement their academic qualifications, but recently we committed ourselves to take this service to a new level.
Even the most gifted students can run into a serious problem following graduation: most employers will not consider taking on staff that have less than a year or two of industry experience, but if graduates can’t get the jobs, how can they acquire the experience needed? We aim to address this vicious circle by providing work experience and teaching professional practice in our own studio on real world projects.
We have joined up with the University Centre at Blackburn College to create a more organised system, providing regular work experience for students studying there. This new initiative and positive engagement with the future creative community is in our DNA.
