Gabriel Jones is the youngest student to pass through TPW’s work training program so far. In a week’s placement from Bacup & Rawtenstal Grammar School, he took up a full time place in the studio, learning about the commercial side of design and more about his main interest – programming for the web.
He developed his skills using industry standard software, and learned some of the principles of visual communication while working on logo designs. His favourite part of the experience was sitting in on some raw website coding – seeing some of the essential behind the scenes bespoke programming needed to address highly specific client needs.
Following his placement, Gabriel emailed us, saying “Thank you for such an amazing week, it was really incredible and I have learned so much and enjoyed it so much. Everyone at T-PW made me feel so welcome and helped me lots, and it was a really enjoyable week. I really feel as though I have learned a lot and had such a good experience into what a working environment is like, and further enhanced my desire to go into a similar field once I finish school. What I’ve learned will really help me with what I am doing at school and what I do once school is finished, and once again I cannot thank you all enough for such an enjoyable week. Best of luck, with kind regards, Gabriel”
Gabriel returns to school for his final year, armed with some valuable real world work experience and better equipt to take his next steps beyond school.
